Thetazen Padma Wind Gong

Thetazen Padma Wind Gong

The Thetazen Padma Wind Gong carries the bright, immersive voice of the traditional Chinese wind gong, framed by a striking golden lotus that rings its darkened outer edge. Hand hammered from responsive bronze and finished with a hand applied lotus border, the Padma responds the instant it is played, releasing a fast, shimmering wash of overtones that fills a room within seconds of the first strike.

The name carries its own meaning. Padma is the Sanskrit word for lotus, the flower that rises through dark water to open, radiant and unblemished, at the surface. It has long stood for clarity, awakening, and beauty emerging from stillness. The name suits this gong perfectly. A ring of golden lotus petals blooms around its dark outer rim, opening inward toward a bright, luminous center, the very image of the flower it is named for. Struck, it releases exactly what the lotus promises: a bright, clear voice rising and opening outward into the room. It is the lotus in full bloom, rendered in bronze.
Each Thetazen Padma Wind Gong is available in four sizes to suit your space and intention:

26 inch - 12 pounds
30 inch - 15 pounds
38 inch - 34 pounds
40 inch - 36 pounds

The smaller sizes offer a quicker, brighter response that suits intimate settings and travel, while the larger gong delivers a fuller, more enveloping wash built for studios and stages.
Wind gongs, also known as feng gongs, trace their roots to China, where flat bronze discs were crafted to produce a crashing, oceanic bloom of sound. Unlike the deep, focused fundamental of a traditional Chau gong, a wind gong responds the instant it is played, releasing a cascade of bright harmonics that has earned it a lasting place in orchestras, ceremonies, and the modern sound therapy room.

Today the wind gong is valued across sound therapy sessions, meditation, yoga studios, and live performance. Its quick attack and rolling sustain make it ideal for building energy, opening a space, or carrying listeners into deep relaxation. A firm strike fills the room with movement, while a lighter touch creates a soft, continuous atmosphere that holds attention without overwhelming it.

Please note: the photographs and audio files shown are representative examples of the gong you will receive. Because each gong is hand finished, slight variations in appearance and tone are natural and expected. A stand is not included but is available for purchase separately.
